Ziegler-Natta catalyst system, for 2-6C alpha-mono-olefin homo- or copolymerisation at 20-160 deg.C under pressure 1-100 bar, contains a phenolic cpd. having formula (I) or (II) (where R3 is 1-6C alkyl; R4 is H or 1-6C alkyl; R5 is H or satd. hydrocarbyl contg. no more than 30C and opt. up to a total of 6 ether gps. and/or ester gps; R6 is 2-24C alkyl and o is integer 1-6), in addn. to (1) a Ti halide, (2) an ester and (3) an Al alkyl, provided mol. ratio Al alkyl:phenolic cpd. is 1:1 to 40:1. In examples, the addn. of (I) or (II) increases polypropylene yield and proportion of polypropylene insoluble in n-heptane.
