Grading machine for different sized potatoes - is designed to create tumbling movement for accurate sorting over shorter distances

In the grading machine each pair of endless cables is formed by two diverging rubber elastic cables (7,8; 9,10) which are supported on the outside and at the bottom by means of section bars (4,5,6) which have an angular cross-section and are mounted fixed along the cables. The cables diverge in the direction of movement between two main rollers which define the grading stretch wherein at least one of these rollers has a polygonal cross-section or consist of several rods. The cables cannot now extend at the sides although they do have freedom of movement upwards so are set in vertical vibration causing the potatoes etc. to tumble along ensuring that they find the right sized grading slot over a shorter distance, thus allowing the grading machine to be made smaller.
