Method of making safety glasses of small dimensions, notably lenses for spectacles, provided with a sheet (22) for protection against splinters, by pressing and optionally heating, of the protective sheet, which may be provided with an adhesive layer, against the glasses, in which a plurality of glasses (35) arranged side-by-side on a common support plate (13) are covered simultaneously with a protective sheet (22) of about the size of the support plate, and the covered glasses are separated from the remaining part of the protective sheet, characterised in that the protective sheet (22) is cut to the exact shape of the glasses during the pressing operation, at the end of the operation of applying the sheet (22) on to the glasses (35), and before final assembly using pressure and optionally heat.
