To minimise the vibration of a panel at one resonant frequency, the panel has a preformed unexcited configuration equivalent to the mode shape induced in the panel at the resonant frequency. To minimise the response of a panel at more than one resonant frequency, the panel has a preformed unexcited configuration equivalent to a weighted superposition of the mode shapes induced in the panel by a plurality of resonant frequencies.
