The joint for joining reinforced or prestressed concrete beams consists of a metal casing (1) and an arrangement of steel bars (2) with hooked ends which are incorporated into the ends of the beams. The casing comprises two vertical plates (3, 4) connected by a central horizontal web, the internal plate having parallel bars (6) welded onto its internal face. The longitudinal bars traverse this plate and are welded to the web, the set of bars on each side of the web being staggered w.r.t. one another. Two horizontal plates (13, 14) define the top and bottom of the casing and the web is provided with a series of horizontal gussets (15). The external plate of the casing has bolt holes and two beams are joined by bolting the respective casings together.
