The microwave circuit acts alternately as a noise source (for tests in telecommunications equipment) and as a voltage limiter. It consists of two Schottky diodes in antiparallel, an inductor in parallel with the diodes, a DC voltage source connected to the first diode and a changeover switch between the source and the first diode and reversing the polarity applied to that diode. The DC source has its positive pole connected to one pole of the switch whilst its negative pole is connected via a resistor to the switch second pole. The common third pole of the switch connects either of the other two poles to the first diode anode.
