The armoured door may be used on a strong-room and has fire-resistant, sound-insulating and thermo-insulating properties. It is of a simplified bi-shell closed metal box construction. The two shells comprises rectangular sheets or plates with perpendicular edge flanges of uniform depth, and are joined by the flanges in the median major plane of the door. The hollow interior is filled with fire-resistant insulating material; and ancillary fittings include an external timber frame, corner reinforcement and hinge-fixings. The flanges may be specially shaped prior to assembly, interlock with one another when assembled, and be fixed together by crimping and riveting. The inner shell (A) may be galvanized or plastified sheet steel or may be of aluminium. The outer shell may be of galvanized or plastified sheet-steel. The corner reinforcements may be built into the interior of the box and may comprise right angled triangular flanged plates.
