Manometric pressure meter for civil engineering applications - uses deformable cell to communicate fluid borne hydrostatic pressure

The pressure inside pipes or boreholes and other earthworks may be measured by a robust device whose action is positive and unambiguous. Its use is particularly appropriate to the monitoring of the depth of space filling by a fluid. The flexible membrane cell (12) in the form of a tubular sleeve is fixed position internally or externally to a pipe by welded rings (8, 9) and is separated from the pressure medium by a perforated protection cylinder (20), in operation, the cell is filled with a liquid whose hydrostatic pressure is communicated by a pipe (5) and measured at the top of a pressure head by a manometer (6). Equalisation of cell pressure with external pressure is achieved by stopcock (7).
