The conveyor comprises a frame which supports two series of overlapping pivoted blades (92) opposite each other. The lower end of the conveyor is supported on a subframe (1a) forming part of the main machine. Inside this subframe is a snail cam (89), rotated by a motor. The circumference of the cam is in contact with a pin (88) on the conveyor frame and the latter is supported on a spring-loaded (87) linkage (84,85,86). The cam imparts a reciprocating movement to the conveyor, progressive in one direction and with a sudden return in the other.
