The lifting magnet consists of a soft magnetic armature (10) to which is connected a magnetic piston rod (12), working against spring pressure (F). The armature (10) is axially movable in the soft magnetic inner part (14), and its movement is limited by a stop (16). The inner armature cavity (14) has a spool former (20) around it, on which is a coil winding (22), and a magnetic flux closure part (28) completing the magnetic circuit of the armature (14). Around the winding (22) the lifting magnet can be build directly onto a hydraulic system by means of fixing screws and a flange plate. Holes in the stop (16) and the armature (10) allow the introduction of hydraulic fluid under pressure to both sides of the armature (10). The two measuring coils (24) and (24A), are adjacent to one another at the rear of the lifting magnet body.
