Clutch operating mechanism with automatic wear correction - uses spring and roller bearing cage with locking balls to maintain tension and correct cable position
Clutch operating mechanism with automatic wear correction - uses spring and roller bearing cage with locking balls to maintain tension and correct cable position
A Bowden cable is guided in a flexible sheath and is supported at the remote end by the vehicle body. At the other end the cable is supported by another body part. The cable is connected to a coupling shaft which in turn is connected to a pedal assembly. A spring maintains the pedal in position defined by a stop plate. The coupling shaft passes through a coupling sleeve in which a roller bearing cage is mounted so that the roller bearings provide locking for the shaft when the pedal is operated. A spring maintains cable tension and takes up wear in the clutch plate. The roller bearing cage is made e.g. of plastics material and is provided with radial holes. These holes hold the locking bearings and have a dia. which is slightly smaller than that of a conical zone which describes the central bore for the coupling shaft.
