The cable core is stripped for a certain length from the cable end and a short length of earth screen is exposed by removal of the outer insulating sheath. The cable end is then dipped in a solder bath of e.g. 300-350 degrees C for a short time, e.g. 1 second, insufficient to affect the insulating inner and outer sheath, but sufficient to cover the exposed outer earth screen. The connector has an outer earth terminal in a split cylindrical form which is threaded onto the cable end and soldered to the earth screen. The cable core is soldered to the connector centre terminal. The result is a good contact between the connector and cable which is easily effected without damaging the cable end.
