PURPOSE:To reduce a relative deflection between a top side tank and a bilge hopper tank by using a double plate construction at the ship's side portion of a corrugated lateral bulkhead which partitions the ship. CONSTITUTION:A double plate construction is used which fixes a vertically extending steel plate 5 so as to close the concaves of the ship's side portion 3a of a corrugated lateral bulkhead 3 partitioning the ship. According to this constitution, a relative deflection between a top side tank 1 and a bilge hopper tank 2 can be reduced, and an additional stress generated in the ship's side construction can be also reduced. Therefore, the safety and the reliability on lateral strength can be maintained even for a large bulk carrier.
