CONTROL OF NOXIOUS INSECT FOR CHINESE HERBAL REMEDY

PURPOSE:To control completely noxious insects for Chinese herbal remedies, by sealing airtightly the Chinese herbal remedies together with a disoxidation material prepared by sealing hermetically a disoxidant composition in a permeable material in a practically impermeable packing material or in a airtight container. CONSTITUTION:Chinese herbal remedies and a disoxidation material prepared by sealing hermetically a disoxidant composition (e.g., iron, sulfite) in a permeable packing material having a permeability at 25 deg.C at RH difference of 75 of 10- 150g/m2.24hr, having an equilibrium RH of 50-90% in case of sealing airtightly the disoxidant composition itself, are sealed airtightly in a practically nonpermeable packing material or a hermetic container, to control noxious insects for Chinese herbal remedies. The disoxidant consists essentially of a reducing agent, preferably one comprising iron powder and a metal halide. By this method, drug store beetle, cigarette beetle, and other various kinds of noxious insects for Chinese berbal remedies can be controlled completely.
