A rigid structure positioning system, in particular a rigid guide tube, in vertical pits, wherein at least one pair of reading aids positioned opposite each other in a single horizontal plane adjacent the guides is used. Each of said reading aids is each formed by two mutually perpendicular horizontal measuring rods slidably guided in guide sleeves fixed to a rigid structure, wherein the outer ends of the measuring rods are adapted to abut two sides of the fixed guides perpendicular to each other and the inner parts of which are provided with a gauge shift.
