HIGH PERFORMANCE TELEVISION COLOR CAMERA EMPLOYING A CAMERA TUBE AND SOLID STATE SENSORS

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA conventional, high resolution camera pickup tubeis employed to generate the luminance signal corresponding tothe greater bandwidth luminance component of a compositevideo signal. At least one low resolution, solid state sen-sor is combined with the tube to generate the red, green andblue color signals corresponding to the lower bandwidth red,green and blue color components of the video signal. A scanadjustment circuit precisely conforms the tube scan rasterwith the near-perfect geometry of the solid state sensor array.A clocking circuit synchronizes the scan rate of the sensorswith that of the pickup tube. Gamma correction, matrixing andencoding are provided via video processor circuitry to generatethe broadcast quality, composite video output.-1-
