The compression contact spring is formed from a pre-stamped sheet having two spring arms (3,4), between which is a cross-shaped stop (5), with a free end (26) and two horizontally opposed projections (6,7). The stamping, also has compression lugs (18,19) for clamping the core of the connecting cable and two tongues (16,17) for gripping the insulation of the cable, in addition to a pre-stamped tongue (15) which, when bent over at a right angle, forms a stop for the cable core when gripped by the lugs (18,19). To make the connector, the sheet is folded about a centre longitudinal axis (28) so that the spring arms (3,4) face each other, as do the cable grip lugs (18,19), and the insulation grip lugs (16,17). The free end (26) of the stop (5) is bent over, so that it projects slightly from the contact, and forms a spring catch which prevents the assembly from being pulled from the housing, into which it is finally inserted. The ends of the contact springs (3,4), are bent outwards slightly, to facilitate the entry of a contact pin.
