A forced mixer (pan-type mixer) esp. for concrete comprises an annular mixing trough (1, 6), a set of paddles (8, 9) mounted on a revolving ring (10), and a central drive unit (11). The drive unit (11) is detachably connected to the inner wall face (7) of the annular mixing trough and possesses a set of dogs or a drive clutch (18) for rotationally driving the ring (10). The coupling between these dogs or clutch (18) and the blade support ring (10) is by means of a drive flange (21); this flange is detachably connected to the ring (10) and can be engaged with the dogs or clutch (18) in such a way that, when the flange (21) has been removed, the drive unit (11) can be disconnected from the inner face (7) of the mixer shell and lowered to remove it. Removal of the motor and transmission system is facilitated.
