A hardtop for cross-country vehicles has an open front, a downward sloping forward peak, integral sun-roof and lateral window openings, the roof has longitudinal stiffening ribs, two of which at least optionally contain timber stiffening ribs: there is a transverse stiffening rib near the front edge; the lateral window openings have peripheral stiffening ribs; the lateral opening has a stiffening frame; the bottom edges of the side walls have stiffening ribs. All the stiffening ribs are integrally formed with the component itself. Preferred material is glass fibre reinforced polyester. The hardtop is intended esp. for winter use on vehicles where a different, soft top is used in the summer; it is particularly suitable for repeated removal from the vehicle and replacement without losing its shape.
