A manually guided smoothing tool for webs of material which have been sewn together, specially sewn pieces of hides, has at the base of a casing with a handle at least one pair of rollers with a profiled surface. Each roller in a pair rotates in the opposite direction to the other and each has an opposite-hand spiral starting from its middle outwards. The former feature causes a longitudinal and the latter a transverse stretching action on the web. Such a tool requires less manual effort and has a good smoothing effect, independent of the orientation of the sewn seams.
