A clamp head for holding specimen bodies (6) with threads in test machines performing tensile strain testing consists of a holder (1) with an insertable clamp bush (2) which has a central threaded hole. It is designed for considerably easier insertion of the specimen and removal of its remains than with conventional arrangements. The clamp bush consists of several segments (3,4) and tapers externally towards the sample body. The hole (7) in the holder which accepts the clamp bush is similarly tapered to corresp. to the bush shape. The holder (1) is cylindrical and has a collar (8) which fits in a recess (9) in the test machine (11) sample holder (10). Equalising plates (12) are placed at the interfaces of the segments (3,4) of which there may be a total of two.
