Forklift truck with transverse control - has locking servo for steered wheels and additional steering on third wheel

The fork lift truck has lateral loading with castor action wheels (3,4) under the forks and with steered wheels (2) under the driving position and motor. One or both of the steered wheels is driven for normal travel. To move transversely, into the loading bays, the steered wheels are swivelled and locked while one of the castor action wheels is linked to a servo steering motor linked to the steering wheel. The third wheel steering provides additional control and greater manoeuverability. The third servo motor (17) is short circuited when the vehicle is travelling normally. For transverse travel the other two wheels are locked by a servo catch (13) which blocks a chain looped over the two wheel mountings.
