The pea coal fraction produced during the grinding is channelled off and fed for additional grinding in a separate mill. The additional grinding takes place in a ball mill and the produced fine material is admixed to the main stream of the fines. The plant comprises a coal drying installation consisting of a tube mill, connected on its material inlet end to a gas supply and on its discharge end to a sifter provided with a pea coal fraction return to the tube mill. The exhaust gas end of the sifter is connected to a separator having a filter with its material discharge end connected to the ball mill.
