Thermal printers are made by dip soldering smal needles into holes in a panel of insulating material covered on each face with arrays or patterns of electrically conductive stripes such that the holes intersect the stripes on opposite faces of the panel. Used for non impact teleprinters requiring test needle points spaced at intervals of e.g. 1-4 mm which can be selected individually from gps. of 200-300 points for heating to a ca. 140 degrees C by resistive current transfer between the circuits on opposite faces of the panels at a potential of 6-20 V. The panel is pref. coated with or made of polyimide or epoxy resin, opt. reinforced.
