Insulation penetrating cable connector for live working - has two toothed jaws with snap action interlock and limited travel screw clamping housed in watertight insulating box

The connector consists of two toothed jaws which snap lock simply over the cable, one jaw locking inside the other. A limited travel screw moves the teeth to perforate the insulation and make contact with the strands of the cable. The fixed jaw has teeth and snap lock teeth whilst the mobile jaw has two arms with snap lock teeth and movable teeth with stops to limit their travel. Each jaw is housed in an insulating half box with a double overlapping lipped weather seal around the edges. The heads of the screws are protected by insulating caps (19) and the two mating halves of the connector are joined by a strap. The connector can be used for live working on an insulated cable, it is water tight, is easily mounted by snap action on a wide range of cables of different sizes and, because of the limits on tooth engagement, provides a constant insulation penetration.
