The guard protects trees, particularly young saplings, against impacts, and comprises a tripod formed by an open stirrup with curved legs. The downwards-extending portions (1) of the legs form two of the uprights, while the third one (2) is welded to the apex of the stirrup (3). Feet can be fitted to the lower ends of the uprights, to anchor it in the ground. These can be formed by cutting into the ends and bending the tongues so formed over. The tubular structure can be rustproofed by hot-galvanising, painting, or coating with plastic.
