The heat sink has profiled major surfaces defining cooling ribs. The drawn profile has reception bores for the diodes formed at the same time, the bores extending parallel to the direction of the ribs, with the profile subsequently cut into slices to provide the individual heat sinks. Pref. the profile is cut into slices perpendicular to the sense in which it is drawn, with the drawn cross-section having the exact shape required for the specific heat sinks. This profile pref. includes longitudinal grooves used to fit two heat sinks together and to attach the heat sink to its support. The heat sink is used for the diodes in a rectifier bridge for an automobile alternator.
