PURPOSE:To prepare the titled milk powder, etc. having high quality, at a low cost, without using large amount of energy nor using high temperature heating procedure, by adding propylene glycol to milk powder, etc., which cannot dissolved instantly, kneading the mixture to obtain agglomerate, and crushing the agglomerate to desired particle size. CONSTITUTION:Milk powder which cannot be dissolved instantly and is prepared by the conventional spray-drying process, etc. is kneaded under the addition of 1-3% propylene glycol (PG) to disperse the PG uniformly in the mixture. The agglomerated lump free from stickiness is crushed, and if necessary, classified e.g. by sieving with a sifter to obtain the product having desired particle size. The product can be dissolved instantly in water or hot water without producing the undissolved lumps. By the similar process to the above, an instant milk substitute composition can be prepared from a powdery milk substitute composition which cannot be dissolved instantly.
