Solar collector with plastic tubes for transfer medium - and heat-exchangeable overheat protector to open housing wall for convection cooling

Heat absorption element, partic. in plastic, is intended for a solar collector etc. It comprises parallel tubes arranged between transverse inlet and outlet tubes for a heat transfer medium, the tube assembly being contained in a housing with one transparent wall. The element is protected againat overheating (e.g. by failure of the medium circulation pump) by a unit which pref. opens one housing wall at a pre-determined temp. to provide cooling by a convection current of outside air. The unit may comprise an evacuated bellows which is filled with a low-boiling liq. in thermal contact with the medium in the outlet tube and coupled to a hinged housing end wall panel.
