A sheet of foamed plastics has on one or preferably both surfaces a partially embedded fabric film, in order to render the surface suitable for use of pressure adhesives, upholstery glues, paints or plasters. A process of making such a sheet comprises the steps of coupling the base sheet of foamed plastics and a fabric film under conditions of higher temperature than room or ambient temperature, applying a slight pressure, if necessary using heated rollers. The application is carried out on one or preferably both faces of a sheet of said plastics, which generally comprises an irradiation cross-linked, closed cell, foamed polyethylene. Preferably, said fabric is a nonwoven polyester fabric. The sheet is used for sound or heat insulation of walls in buildings.
