The present invention relates to a device for attaching a support to a balcony parapet (1) or the like. The device consists of a support part (3a) and an adjustment part (4), which parts are arranged telescopically and mutually displaceably in such a way that the device can be attached to parapets (1) of different thicknesses. The known devices have a disadvantageous outer appearance and break easily. The problems can be solved in that the support and adjustment parts (3a, 4) are made in tubular shape, a threaded part (14) is arranged in the inside tube, and an adjustment screw (5), connecting the threaded part (14) to the outer end of the outer tube (3a), is provided.
