TELECOPYING PROCESS USING A SMECTIC LIQUID CRISTAL CELL AND TRANSCEIVER TELECOPIER FOR APPLICATION OF SAID PROCESS

A teleprinting process and a transceiver teleprinter for application of said process. It is proposed to use during the receiving phase a smectic liquid cristal cell for recording by a thermo-optic process of an intermediary image of a linear element (fragment of column or complete line) of the transmitted document, image which is then projected onto a photosensitive surface. The same optic system allows, at the transmitting phase, the reading of this linear element by a mosaic of detectors and, at the receiving phase, the projection onto the photosensitive surface of the intermediary image recorded in the cell. The invention is applicable to teleprinting through the channel of an ordinary telephone network or of high flow transmission lines, as well as to information transmission by compression.
