1. Leg for the main landing gear of an aircraft, of the type comprising two undercarriages having legs lifted in an at least substantially lateral direction, disposed symmetrically on either side of the longitudinal axis of said aircraft, this leg comprising a strut (1) with respect to which a coaxial projecting rod (2) may slide telescopically, and torque links (17, 18, 19) in the form of scissors connecting the strut (1) and the rod (2) to ensure slide without rotation of the latter, whilst means for fastening said torque links are provided on the strut and on the rod and means for pivotal connection of the leg on the airframe are provided at the end of the strut opposite said rod, characterized in that said leg comprises two assemblies of fastening means (12, 14 and 13, 15) enabling said torque links (17, 18, 19) to be fixed, as desired, in one or the other of two symmetrical positions with respect to a plane (P) passing through the axis of the strut (1) and of the rod (2) and in that at least the configuration of the strut (1) of said leg, including its fastening (12, 13) and pivotal connection means (6, 7), is symmetrical with respect to said plane.
