1445704 Repairing cracks in buildings &c BALM BV 9 Aug 1973 [10 Aug 1972] 37885/ 73 Heading E1S A crack in a building or other object is repaired by adhering a covering layer of a sheet-like material on the surface of the object over the crack where it emerges at the surface, forming at least one aperture in the layer to communicate with the crack, injecting a bonding agent, e.g. epoxy resin, through the aperture to fill the crack, and removing the covering layer. The covering layer 10 may be a transparent adhesive tape, and additionally a foamed plastics tape 7 may be plugged in the outer part of the crack 9 if it is desired that the surface of the filling resin lies below the surface of the object, the tapes being removed subsequently. Injection apparatus for the resin comprises a housing 11 having inlets 13, 14 with non-return valves 15 through which constituents of the resin are pumped, a mixing device 23, and a telescopic injection outlet 16, 18 with a valve 17 which opens on depression of the outlet part 17 against the surface of the object. The apparatus may have a heating element 21 and is hand-held. The apertures in the covering layer may be formed by making V-shaped incisions and bending out resulting tags.
