An apparatus for rolling a wrapping leaf onto a cigar, cigarillo or cheroot roll. A conveyor belt (4) is arranged between a blank punching device (1) and a rolling machine (5). The blank punching device (1) is provided with a fully rotating rolling apparatus (2) and a suction arm (3), the suction arm (3) laying the punched-out wrapping leaves on the conveyor belt (4). The rolling machine (5) is provided with a removal device (6), whose most important component is a suction arm (7) which takes each wrapping leaf from the conveyor belt (4) and conveys it to a gumming station and the rolling apparatus (8). The working stroke of the rolling machine (5) is shorter than the working stroke of the blank punching device (1). The drive motor of the conveyor belt (4) is controlled so that the movement of the conveyor belt (4) is prevented during the laying of a wrapping leaf on the conveyor belt (4) by the suction arm (3). As a result of the combination described above, substantial utilisation of the high performance of the rolling machine (5) is achieved with direct processing of the wrapping leaves punched out by the blank punching device (1).
