Surgical support for deformed foot - involves making mould whilst air is withdrawn from airtight bag in which foot is enclosed

Moulding material is applied to the sole of the foot and a suction tube is fixed over the foot's upper surface. The foot is enclosed in an airtight bag, which is fastened round the ankle and the air is withdrawn from the bag through the suction tube, so that it presses the moulding material against the sole of the foot. The foot is placed in the orthopaedically corect position and the moulding material allowed to harden. The negative impression so obtained is used to make a positive model of the foot, which serves as a bsis for making a firm foot support. The negative impression may be taken with the foot, complete with moulding material and airtight bag, placed in a shoe.
