Radar detection of fixed objects in parasitic reflection zones - uses difference between power received by resolution cell to determine if object is in clutter zone
Radar detection of fixed objects in parasitic reflection zones - uses difference between power received by resolution cell to determine if object is in clutter zone
The radar detection system is of the continuous transmission frequency modulated type. It has a high distance resolution DELTA D of the order of magnitude of the minimum distant between bright points of an object (diffusers of large equivalent radar surface). The system has also an arrangement for discriminating between the objects and "clutter". The discrimination is determined from the difference between the radio electric powers received by a resolution cell containing a bright point of an object and of a resolution cell situated at the same distance but only containing "clutter". The system has a circuit for analysing the total detection zone in successive distance strips of length DELTA Do. A second circuit displays on an oscilloscope screen a luminous point when at least an object has been detected in a strip of distance DELTA Do. The position of this single point of the oscilloscope corresponds to the positions bearing and distance from the strip of distance DELTA Do.
