The phosphoric acid soln. contg. the U is extracted using a liq. compsn. which consists of an organic solvent, an organic acidic phosphorus cpd. and a neutral phosphineoxide of formula RMR2R3P=O where R1, R2 and R3 are alkyl aryl or alkoxy-alkyl. Further, the organic acid cpd. is chosen from dialkyl phosphoric acid of formula (R4O)(R5O)P(O)(OH)2 OR PHOSPHONIC ACID OF FORMULA (R7O)(R4)P(O)OH where R4 and R5 are alkyl and r6 and R7 are alkyl or aryl. Process is used for collecting the uranium from phosphate ore contg. a small of uranium.
