The connector is made from a single stamped sheet of metal and is housed in a flat, insulating holder. The wire to be connected is held by two pairs of crimp-wings which grip the insulating sleeve and bare conductor. The female lug-termination includes two pairs of vertical walls which are curved over at the top and present four vertical edges aligned in pairs. The male connecting blade-contact is introduced into the opening and two slots in the blade are aligned with the vertical edges. A screw hole in the centre of the housing base allows a notched flap to be pushed down on the blade, engaging the vertical edges in the slots and preventing the withdrawal of the blade once a small amount of play has been taken up. The notched flap is elastic and is hinged about one edge. A second screw hole allows the notched flap to be disengaged from the blade and the blade to be withdrawn.
