An air filter consists of a conventional cyclone in which air is given a pretreatment to remove the bulk of the dust; this is followed by a downflow bag filter, within the same enclosing vessel, in which air flows from inside to outside of the bags. A central rotating shaft permits sequential removal of accumulated dust from the bags by stopping the air inflow to a pair of bags, while simultaneously connecting the outlets to a separate aspirated dust discharge. Used for the cleaning of dusty air and gases the device combines the features of a cyclone and a bag filter.
