Water pollution detector using biological pick=up strapped to fish - measures changes in bio-electric signals emitted from nervous system of trout using amplification and decoding circuits
The device detects micropollutants in fresh water or sea water by using a biotelemetric chain with an animal such as a trout, acting as a biological pick-up device in a tank. An emitter, surgically implanted on the skull of the animal emits bioelectric signals from the animal's nervous system which are affected by the presence of micropollutants in the water. The signals are collected by two plate electrodes placed at the base of the tank and near the surface. The signal is then amplified by an amplifier having an 80dB gain in the band 110-80 Hz. A decoder demodulates the high frequency signal whose fast Fourier transform is then calculated using, a low cost calculator. The presence of micropollutants is detected by changes in the energy spectrum. The device has industrial applications for water pollution problems such as in water for human consumption, or in water purifying plants.
