The machine for stringing tennis or other racquets has a cradle (1) that holds the frame (C). This is in two halves (1a,1b) joined by two plates (1d) whose position can be altered to fit the frame. Small removable vices (5), with mobile jaws, are fitted through the cradle to hold the frame. The plates have holes (1e,1e') through their centre and vices fit through these. Each vice has a cylindrical rod that passes through the holes in the cradle and threaded rods fit into parallel holes in the rod, to adjust the position of the jaw.
