Heat-developable diazotype material has a sensitive part contg. a base-generating material (I) acting as precursor of an activator for the coupling reaction giving a coloured trace from a diazonium salt and a coupling agent. The (I) has an acid part consisting of a carboxy-2 carboxamide gp., and a basic part consisting of a mixt. of basic cations comprising a non-protonated alkali(ne earth) or quat. tetraalkylammonium cation, and a protonated cation. Pref. (I) is of formula (I) in whichR1-4are H, halogen, (halo)alkyl, alkoxy, alkoxycarbonyl, OH, carbamoyl or carboxamide; the gps. R1 and/or R2 may form with the gps. R3 and/or R4 a valency bond and/or a divalent gp. making with the two C atoms to which the gps.
