Plasticised PVC and thermoplastic elastomer laminate - with elasticity and resistance to heat and oil, used e.g. in hoses, pipes, sealants etc. as rubber substitute

Elastic laminated article contg. at least 2 layers comprises (a) a soft PVC layer contg. 30-220 (40-200) pts.wt. plasticiser for 100 pts.wt. PVC of polymsn. degree 800-12000 (1300-10000) and (b) a layer of a thermoplastic elastomer comprising a polyester, a polyurethane or a polyamide. Pref. the plasticiser has a mol.wt. of at least 700 and it is pref. a plasticiser or an epoxy cpd. Pref. the soft PVC has a lower hardness than the thermoplastic elastomer. The prod. has mechanical strength, resistance to heat and oils, and is mouldable and flexible. It is used for hoses, pipes, tubes, sealants and protective cover for vehicle parts as a replacement for vulcanised natural or synthetic rubber.
