ABSTRACTThe invention provides a blasting method and installation.The installation comprises a carriage having drilling means andexplosive loading means thereon and a guide on which thecarriage is mounted for moving it along an elongated rock face.Initiating means is provided on the carriage for initiatingexplosive and the installation includes an extraction conveyorextending along the rock face for removing broken rock. Themethod involves moving the carriage intermittently along therock face along the guide and from the carriage, when it isstationary, successively drilling a series of holes in therock face, loading said holes with explosive charges, andinitiating the explosive charges in the holes before the series hasbeen drilled.
