Breakage of grains and passage of unopened hulls are to be avoided in a legume dehulling machine which is essentially composed of two rubbing elements pressing together and rotating at different peripheral velocities. For this purpose, according to the diagram, a rotating rubbing drum and a rubbing belt rotating with different peripheral velocity thereto are used, which belt is guided over at least two rolls of significantly smaller diameter, an adjustable contact pressure being exerted in an elastic manner by the rubbing drum and/or at least one of the rolls.
