An electrical installation apparatus which is surrounded by a housing and has a device for holding it in a manner such that it is latched and can be detached again on two profiled supporting rails which run parallel to one another, spaced apart, especially top-hat section profiled rails has - as is known - in each case at least one separate sprung bracket for each of the profiled supporting rails. This bracket engages in a latching-in manner behind a free-standing (self-supporting, exposed) edge of at least one limb of the associated profiled supporting rail. The new proposal is that the housing (11, 12) of the installation apparatus (10) be provided with formed attachments (14...17), in the regions of the course which is provided for the profiled supporting rails, on its base side (13) which is to face the profiled supporting rails (28, 29). These formed attachments (14...17) engage around the edges of the sprung brackets (18, 19) and hold them in a captive manner such that they have virtually no play in the longitudinal direction of the profiled rails while, in contrast, they have considerable play in the transverse direction, in the order of magnitude of the acceptable spacing of tolerance of the profiled supporting rails. The formed attachments on the housing for holding the sprung brackets can be constructed as strips which are profiled in an angled manner, extend transversely with respect to the profiled supporting rails which are to be attached, and are opposite one another in mirror-image form.
