The tools are produced by pressing and then firing or heating the abradant mixture. Before pressing, from 2.5 to 5.5% by weight, based on the weight of the abradant mixture, of a solidifying agent comprising from 80 to 95 parts by weight of sulphite resin and from 5 to 20 parts by weight of an 8 to 15% aqueous solution of an acrylate-type polymer are added to the abradant mixture. This polymer is preferably polyacrylamide. The sulphite resin is preferably prepared at from 80 to 120 DEG C by condensation of from 70 to 95 parts by weight of sulphite waste liquors thickened to a concentration of from 50 to 60%, and from 5 to 30 parts by weight of urea are added thereto.
