Cylindrical water tank made of precast concrete components - uses components within road haulage gauge and has building base, roof slabs, and circular walls

The vertically cylindrical water-storage tank is built up from reinforced concrete components which all fit within the road-haulage gauge. The assembled tank comprises a circular base slab (1), standard wall segments (3) and a circular roof slab (4). The slabs (1, 4) may be subdivided into two precast demi-circular pieces, or a greater number of pieces (7, 8, 9) which are delineated by joints parallel to a dia. The base and roof pieces (7, 8, 9) may have reinforcement projecting into joint gaps which are filled with rich concrete. The base slab includes a peripheral kerb (10) which locates the foot of the cylindrical walls (2) and provides for a sealed joint. The vertical edges of the segments include trapezoidal channels. The channels form vertical hexagonal passages which locate overlapping reinforcement ends and are filled with rich jointing concrete. The horizontal joints between the segments may be formed by ramp rebated interlocking edges and may contain compression seals.
