PURPOSE:To save natural resources by a method wherein the anount of heat of a comparatively low temperature difference obtained in a refrigerating cycle or the like is taken out through the substance causing the phase transition, which is provided in a heat insulation system, as the energy. CONSTITUTION:The heat insulation system, isolating the inside from the outside thermally, is formed by a cylinder 1 provided with a heat insulating material 2 and a reciprocable piston 3. Refrigerant 11 and the substance causing the phase transition or the wire 4 of shape-memory alloy having martensite transformation, for example, are entered into the heat insulation system. One end 5 of the wire 4 is fixed and the other end 7 thereof is connected to a sliding shaft 6. An auxiliary heat exchanger 8 is provided in the heat insulation system and the temperature of the inside of the heat exchanger 8 is adjusted by giving or receiving heat to and from the outside thereof through a pipe 9. Further, a fan 10 to average the temperature in the system and an instrument 16 or the like to sense the internal condition of the system are provided. According to this method, the amount of heat of a low temperature, introduced through the pipe 9, is taken out of the sliding shaft 6 through the wire 4 of shape-memory alloy as the mechanical energy.
